- Place 2 tablespoons of Vaseline petrolium jelly, 1 tablespoon of beeswax and 1/4 teaspoon of Vitamin E oil into a small microwavable container ( I prefer to use a small glass container).
- Microwave the above mentioned ingredients on high for about 3-5 minutes to make sure all ingredients completely melt together. You will want to stop the microwave oven half way through this process to stir your mixture. The time it takes to melt your product will vary according to your microwave.
- Once your ingredients are completely melted, remove from the microwave oven and let cool for a couple of minutes. Once it has cooled a bit, stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon of honey and mix together until well blended. You will notice that this mixture will get thicker as the mixture cools. You can can your lipbalm into plastic or tin lip balm containers which you can find at most craft supply stores. Now you have crafted a lipbalm that is not only moisturizing to your dry lips, but also tastes good. You can store your lipbalm for up to 6 weeks.

Without Beeswax
Ingredients:
- Vaseline
- Lemonade
- A small (or large) container to hold the lip gloss
- Lipstick (optional)
- Get the amount of Vaseline - your beeswax substitute - that you want to turn into lip gloss. It doesn't matter how much Vaseline you use, it just depends on how much lip gloss you want to make. Use a spoon to put the Vaseline into a small mixing pot.
- Add lemonade until the flavour hides the taste of Vaseline when worn on the lips. Judge two things when choosing your lemonade: flavoring and color.
- For coloring don't pick regular lemonade because your lips will be yellow. Your best bet is pink lemonade because it tastes like lemonade and its pink.
- For extra color, chop off a small piece of lip stick, and mix with your Lemonade /Vaseline mixture.
- Warm the mixture in microwave, stir gently and scoop into a pot with an airtight lid. Allow to cool.
CAUTION:Remember to check for allergies on all items used before making this.
Using Petroleum Jelly or Vaseline
General Directions:
Lip balm made from vaseline (or petroleum jelly) is moisturizing and soothing, softens lips and helping to prevent chapping.
Use clean, sterile containers for preparation and storage. You can reuse old lip gloss pots, but thoroughly clean out the old product, then wash with soap and water, sterilize with rubbing alcohol, rinse with clean water and dry the container before reuse.
Small amounts of new lipstick can be used to color lip balms made with a petroleum jelly base. Add small slivers of the lipstick to the vaseline before melting. Old lipstick may be contaminated with bacteria; for this reason, it's not advisable to reuse old lipstick in new lip gloss recipes.
Chocolate or Cocoa Lip Gloss
Fill a small container with petroleum jelly, then empty the petroleum jelly into a microwavable bowl.
Microwave at 30 second increments until just melted. Alternatively, you could melt the petroleum jelly over low heat in a double boiler.
Another way to melt the base ingredients is to put them in a plastic bag then float the bag in hot water until melted; simply snip off a tiny corner of the bag to pour out the liquid vaseline.
Stir cocoa powder into the melted vaseline, using enough to flavor and color the lip gloss to your taste. Stir well to combine.
Pour into the original pot and let cool until set.
Berry Lipgloss
Follow the directions for Chocolate Lip Gloss, but replace the cocoa with strawberry, raspberry or blueberry drink crystals or berry flavored kool-aid (with sugar already added).
Honey Lip Gloss
Combine three tablespoons of vaseline or petroleum jelly with one teaspoon of honey. Warm in the microwave, using 30 second increments, until melted. Or melt over low heat in a double boiler.
Pour melted honey lip balm into small pots and let cool before using.
Easy Minty Lip Gloss
Add three drops of peppermint oil to one tablespoon of Vaseline and mix well. Make as much or as little as you need.
